Village hall boiler losing pressure between bookings
The property
A brick village hall in the north of the county, with a kitchen, toilets and a main room. Its radiators run on two circuits, piped under the timber floor.
The problem
A committee member topped up the boiler before most bookings, and twice the pressure had fallen to zero. The boiler engineer found no fault in the boiler itself.
How we found it
Shutting off each circuit in turn showed only the kitchen side losing pressure. With the heating hot, the thermal camera found a warm patch on the boards by one radiator, and tracer gas, a hydrogen and nitrogen mix, confirmed it.
The outcome
Lifting two boards at the mark showed a weeping joint. The committee had it repaired while we were there, priced separately, and filed our report.
