Kitchen island feed leaking under a new floor
The property
An older village house, renovated with an open-plan kitchen. The island sink's hot and cold feeds run from the wall through the new concrete floor.
The problem
A letter from the water company reported constant flow through the meter. One grout line beside the island never seemed to dry after mopping.
How we found it
The meter still moved with the hot water off, ruling out the hot side. The island's cold feed would not hold pressure, and tracer gas and moisture readings both peaked at that grout line.
The outcome
Two tiles were lifted at the mark and the joint repaired while we were there, at the price quoted beforehand. The owner answered the water company's letter with our report attached.
